Premarital exam

Women’s Health & Wellness Exams

Annual Women’s Health & Wellness Exams are vital for maintaining a healthy body and life. This exam will often include a breast exam, pap smear, and, if you’re getting married, it’s common to conduct a premarital exam as well. If any unusual lumps or illnesses appear, see your medical provider immediately.

Premarital Exams

We want to educate women about their bodies and answer any questions or concerns. The premarital exam should help reduce frustration and discomfort associated with onset sexual activity and birth control use.

Birth Control Consultation

At Vista Healthcare we can help you decide which form of birth control is best for you. With so many options for birth control we know it can be confusing. We’ve provided some information to explain different forms of birth control we offer and what they do.

Different forms of birth control we offer:

  • Barrier methods of birth control: Condoms, diaphragm

  • Hormonal methods of birth control: Birth control pills, (NuvaRing) vaginal ring contraceptive, (Nexplanon) arm implant, contraceptive injection (Depo-Provera), and contraceptive patch (Ortho Evra)

  • Intrauterine devices (IUDs) for birth control: Hormonal IUD (Kyleena, Mirena) and non-hormonal IUD (ParaGard)

  • Sterilization for birth control: Tubal ligation or the Essure for women and vasectomy for men

  • Natural family planning for birth control: Using basal body temperature and cervical mucus method and rhythm methods to prevent pregnancy.

How they work:

  • Condoms and the rhythm/timing method all prevent sperm from reaching the egg.

  • Spermicide helps to inactivate or damage sperm.

  • Birth control pills use a small amount of synthetic hormone, which is released and inhibits the body’s natural cyclical process. The hormonal contraceptive stops the body from ovulating.

  • IUDs thicken cervical mucus so that sperm can't pass through it as easily.
